Croagers are loud but small creatures most noted for their mushroom-like caps. They secrete a strange scent that attracts others of their kind but scares off any predators. It is also observed that only males of this species have a glowing cap, which lights up the forest at night as the males attempt to attract the females; usually, the brighter the glow, the greater the chance the male has.Â
