Description:
Small, limbed eels that live in the sand of shallow tropical beaches. During low tide, these eels create small nests of wet sand, easily distinguished by the small balls of clumped sand they leave outside their den. Ribbeons are shy, and usually create small openings through the bottom of their dens to peer out of in search of danger. They can last hours outside of water, however, become lethargic when dry.Β
